5 Best Ways to Uncomplicate Your Health

Are you making health too complicated? Probably. How could you not when you're constantly bombarded with supplement ads, new diets, advanced recovery methods like cold plunging, and food marketing at the grocery store screaming at you with all of its health claims?

I think the biggest problem for most people, myself included, is that we're constantly striving to find the next "right" thing. Instead of digging our heels in and doing what we know works—as unexciting as it seems—we continue to search for that breakthrough that science has yet to unveil, that product that's going to make being healthy 100x easier, or that phase of our life where all the stars align and we become that perfect person we want to be.

But what if I told you there is no right next thing? And that all you have is now? And that your life will never allow you to become that perfectly Zen, perfectly toned, always energetic and overly optimistic version of yourself?

I don't mean to sound depressing. This is great news, actually. It means we can focus on the 20% of things that drive 80% of the results and let the rest of our time and energy go into more useful pursuits.

So, here's what I'm going to ask you to do:

  1. Instead of taking more supplements, eat a diet based primarily in whole foods and get to the root cause of why you aren't sleeping well.

  2. Instead of constantly changing up your workouts, stick to a solid program and allow it to become the sacred ritual that will give you the results you actually want with enough time and dedication.

  3. Instead of spending your time trying to research more, put your phone down and start doing the things you know you should be doing.

  4. Instead of trying to find shortcuts and hacks, accept that parts of being healthy will be hard and that the hard things will dramatically improve your life.

  5. Instead of relying on heroic efforts and intense pushes to drive results, focus on sustainable habits and systems that get you there with ease.

The people who seem to have it all figured out are just busy doing the things instead of waiting for the perfect moment. They're doing all of the boring little things, like walking, sleeping enough, and eating protein throughout the day. And they're doing this every day. Even when they don't want to. But they weren't always like that, so it doesn't mean that you can't become like them too. What's holding you back from sticking with it today?
