8 Snacks You Should Be Eating

There's nothing more overwhelming than going to the grocery store or stopping at a gas station to grab a snack and trying to find something that tastes good and is actually good for you. Your options tend to be an overpriced "healthy" snack that tastes like dirt, a protein bar that tastes like chalk, or the candy that would satisfy your craving but leave you crashing within the hour.

After years of trial and error and testing out every healthy, protein-packed snack I can get my hands on, I want to share my top 8. No protein bars included!
My goal is to find snacks that help me reach my goals (feel good and look good) while being yummy, easy, relatively affordable, and sustaining enough to hold me over until my next meal. If any of that resonates, you'll love this list.
Oikos Triple Zero Greek Yogurts: I eat these every day! 15 grams of protein per container, and they come in a variety of flavors. They're sweetened with stevia instead of anything artificial.
Chomps/Kirkland Beef Sticks: Chomps sticks are delicious with 8–10 grams of protein, easy, and super savory. If beef isn't your thing, Chomps also makes chicken and turkey sticks. However, if you do like beef, the Kirkland brand ones at Costco taste better than Chomps — and they're cheaper too!
Raw Baby Carrots or Bell Peppers: If I need something refreshing and crunchy, especially if I'm just feeling snacky right before a meal, I'll grab some baby carrots or chopped bell pepper slices. Slightly sweet, flavorful, and a great way to get your fiber and veggies in without much effort.
Archer's Zero-Sugar, Grass-Fed Beef Jerky: A little on the pricier side, but absolutely delicious and high in protein with 27 grams per serving! It's worth the money, especially if you're in a pinch and won't be able to eat a meal for a few hours.
RX Bars: These are a bit controversial — not technically a protein bar, but they have 12 grams of protein from egg whites, not powder. They're made with ingredients you can actually read, they come in tons of flavors, and while they're on the chewier side, they're very balanced with healthy fats, energizing carbs, fiber, AND protein.
Lesser Evil Popcorn: Proceed with caution, because this popcorn is AMAZING. Make sure to portion out a bowl! It's a great lower-calorie option with some fiber for those snacky moments before a meal or when you want a little something more without overdoing it.
That's It Bars: I love fresh fruit as a pre-workout snack, but it's not always feasible to get your hands on, especially if you're traveling. These bars are made of fruit, and… that's it! They're also a great crowd-pleaser for kids. My favorite is the apple-mango.
Dry Roasted Edamame: One of my go-to travel snacks. Crunchy, salty, with a perfect balance of protein, fiber, and healthy fats. Also a great option for anyone who is plant-based.
Here's to healthy snacking!
