Do what you hate to do what you love

You've heard it before: Do what you love! Life is short! You only live once!

It's easy to use these thoughts to justify doing things we know aren't best for us because we think it will be worth it, regardless of the consequences. In the context of health and fitness, this could include sacrificing sleep, skipping workouts, or overeating unhealthy foods.
While you might be able to get away with this occasionally, it will backfire eventually.
The irony is that the people who are the healthiest and fittest can get away with this the most. Why? Because they've invested in themselves enough to pay the price here and there. This is a great place to be. When you have more muscle mass, you can get away with eating a bit more. When you get more sleep, you can get away with one fun, sleepless night. When you're super consistent with your workout routine, you can get away with blowing one off.
But the reason this works for some and not for others is that only some people are willing to do what they "hate" in order to do what they "love." This means working out even when you don't want to, going to bed earlier when it's not fun, and eating healthy even when it's not as exciting. By living your life this way, you can indulge in the moments and experiences without sacrificing your quality of life.
And on top of this, when you actually lead a healthy lifestyle, you'll start to feel good that the things you used to "love" aren't as enticing, and the things you used to "hate" become what you look forward to.
