What's missing in your mindset?

Your mindset dictates everything you do—and how you do it. It doesn't matter if you have the perfect workout, diet, or supplement routine; if your mindset doesn't align with your goals, none of it will stick.

I hear the same clichés over and over (“Discipline over motivation!”), and honestly, it gets old. So today, I want to share a few mindset shifts that I don’t hear enough people talk about—but that can make all the difference.

  1. Are you trading short-term rewards for long-term benefits? (Think: the dopamine hit from eating that treat right in front of you vs. losing fat, feeling energized, and finally achieving the body you've been working toward.)

  2. Are you making it too emotional? (Think: Is food just food, or have you given it a bigger role? Are you relying on it for comfort, distraction, or something beyond nourishment?)

  3. Can you handle uncomfortable feelings? (Think: Do you turn to food—or other habits—to cope with negative emotions? What if you sat with those feelings instead? Would you die? Would the world end? Nope!)

  4. What story are you telling yourself - and are you telling yourself the whole story? (Think: How you frame a situation impacts how you respond. Yes, that dessert is going to taste amazing right now, but how will you feel after? Sluggish? Bloated? Is that part of the story too?)

  5. Are you starting where you are? (Think: Are you accepting your current body, health, and circumstances instead of constantly fighting against them?)

  6. If you were given the body and health of your dreams tomorrow, would you be able to maintain it? (Think: If the answer is no, it’s time to focus on building the habits and mindset that can sustain it.)

  7. Are you doing what you want to have done? (Think: Your future self is the reason you’re doing all this work. How will you feel about today’s decision when you look back on it?)

I like to frame these mindset shifts as questions, because questions lead to answers. And the truth is, you have to find those answers for yourself. I can’t do it for you.
